Meriton Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a well-established regional main contractor to appoint an Assistant Design Manager.
This contractor has built an outstanding reputation over nearly four decades, delivering a wide range of construction projects across the South of England. Their portfolio spans industrial, commercial, infrastructure, education, and public sector schemes, typically up to £20m in value, with a strong focus on collaboration, quality, and long-term client relationships.
The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring Design professional to join a growing, forward-thinking business that places real emphasis on developing its people.
Working closely with the Head of Design and wider project teams, you will support the coordination and management of design throughout the lifecycle of projects—from tender through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the design process from pre-construction through to completion
- Coordinate design information between consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Review drawings and technical submissions for compliance and buildability
- Support in resolving design-related issues on live projects
- Attend design team meetings and contribute to programme management
- Ensure designs align with project specifications, cost, and programme requirements
About You
- Background in construction or architecture
- Experience within a main contractor or consultancy environment
- Strong understanding of the design process within construction projects
- Good communication skills and ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
- Proactive, organised, and keen to develop within a design management role

Salary & Package
- Salary £30,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
